The short version: everything you create with WritersForge belongs to you. The ideas are yours, the choices are yours, the words are yours, and the byline is yours. This page explains what that means, in plain English. The binding legal detail lives in our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Whether you use WritersForge to shape a structure, plan scenes, draft prose, or get a critique, the result is yours. That includes both what you write yourself and the AI-assisted output produced from your input and your direction. WritersForge claims no ownership of your stories, characters, or manuscripts. You are free to use, publish, and sell your work however you choose.
WritersForge is built to support your writing, not to replace it. StoryWriter drafts in your voice, working from the structure you approved, and hands every word back to you to keep, change, or cut. You make the creative decisions at every step. You are the author — the story is yours, and so is the byline.
Your manuscript is yours alone. WritersForge runs on Anthropic's commercial API, and under those terms nothing you write is used to train any AI model. On our side, your work isn't shared or sold, and nobody reads it but you — the only exception is if you ask us for help with something and we need to look at it to sort it out. Discretion isn't a setting we added — it's the default.
You may have heard concerns about AI and plagiarism. Here's how it actually works: the AI generates writing one small piece at a time, based on patterns it learned across an enormous range of text — it isn't copying and pasting passages from somewhere else. As long as your input is your own, the writing you get out is original to you.
Because WritersForge drafts from your structure and in your voice, the output is grounded in your creative work rather than pulled from a template. That said, we still encourage every writer to run a plagiarism checker before publishing — it's good practice for any manuscript, AI-assisted or not.
You wrote it, so how you present it to the world — to agents, publishers, readers, or contests — is your decision, not ours. Disclosure norms around AI assistance are evolving quickly and unevenly across the industry. We'll keep this page and our resources current as they settle, but the choice of what to say, and to whom, stays with you.
